How do I remove vocals from a song?

Updated:

Open the AI Vocal Separator, drop the song and press Separate vocals. An AI model splits it into two tracks, the vocals and the instrumental, and you download either one as MP3 or WAV. It is part of AudioCutter Pro.

What are the steps?

  1. Open the Vocal Separator. It is part of Pro, with a 7-day pass or a 1-year license.
  2. Choose how to separate: Private runs in this browser, Fast uses a server and works on any device.
  3. Drop a song or a video with the song in it, then press Separate vocals.
  4. Listen to the Vocals and Instrumental tracks.
  5. Pick MP3 or WAV and download the track you need, or both.

Private or Fast: which should I choose?

Private keeps the song on your device and uses none of your server hours; the first run downloads the model, about 181 MB. Fast sends the audio to Replicate in the US, finishes quickly on any device, and the file is deleted there within 24 hours.

Can I make a karaoke track this way?

Yes. The Instrumental track is the song without the singing. If the key is too high or low for you, download the Instrumental, open it in the Pitch Changer and move it a few semitones.

Can I remove vocals on iPhone or Android?

Yes, use Fast mode: the separation runs on the server, so a phone handles it as well as a computer. Private mode also works on phones but can be very slow without a strong graphics chip.

How clean is the result?

For most pop, rock and hip-hop songs the vocals come out clear and the instrumental sounds natural. Heavy reverb, stacked backing vocals or a very old mono recording can leave faint traces.

How long can the song be?

Up to 10 minutes per file in both modes. A longer file is separated from the start up to that point, so cut it into parts first if you need all of it.
