Frequently asked questions
Which format should I choose?
MP3 plays everywhere, M4A (AAC) is efficient and native on Apple devices, WAV is best for editing, FLAC is lossless but smaller than WAV, and OGG is common on the web and in games.
What does the quality setting change?
It sets the bitrate of compressed formats. Higher bitrates sound better and make larger files; 192 kbps is a good default for music.
Does converting improve quality?
No. Converting a compressed file to WAV or FLAC keeps its current quality but cannot restore detail that was already removed.
Is the original file changed?
No. A new file is created; your original stays exactly as it was.
