How do I boost the bass of a song?

Updated:

Open the Bass Booster and drop the song: the bass is already 9 dB louder. Move the Bass slider to taste, preview 10 seconds, then press Apply and save. A limiter keeps the boosted low end from distorting.

What are the steps?

  1. Open the Bass Booster and drop a song; the bass boost is already set.
  2. Move the Bass slider: 6 to 12 dB is typical, up to 18 dB is possible.
  3. Press Preview 10 seconds and listen on the headphones or speakers you will use.
  4. Press Apply and save.
  5. Download the bass-boosted song.

How much bass boost should I use?

Around +6 dB adds warmth; +9 to +12 dB gives a heavy, club-style bass. Above that, phone and laptop speakers tend to rattle.

Which frequencies are boosted?

A low shelf raises everything below about 110 Hz, where kick drums and bass lines sit, and leaves vocals and higher notes as they are.

What bass setting works in a car?

Car cabins already add bass, so start around +6 dB and preview at your normal volume. If the speakers buzz, go lower.

Can I boost the bass on my phone?

Yes. The Bass Booster runs in Safari and Chrome on phones, and the song is processed in the browser.

Can I reduce the bass instead?

Yes. Move the Bass slider below 0 dB to take some low end out, for example from a boomy recording.
